The University Research and Innovation Center (EKIK, http://ekik.uni-obuda.hu/) opened its labs in 2014, aiming to spread knowledge, serve innovation and put forward research and development at Óbuda University. The strategic goal of EKIK is also to support and leverage the research of graduate students, to create an ecosystem of science and innovation, where intelligent learning and organic research meet applied development.
EKIK has become a nationally as well as internationally recognized research and innovation center, which consists of topical knowledge centers, aiming to spearhead a focus domain within the research portfolio of the university. Currently, the following centers constitute the core of EKIK: Antal Bejczy Center for Intelligent Robotics (IROB, irob.uni-obuda.hu/), Bio-Tech Research Center (BioTech, http://biotech.uni-obuda.hu/en), Physiological Controls Research Center (PhysCon, http://physcon.uni-obuda.hu/?q=en/).
The Carpathian Basin Online Education Center (K-MOOC) operates as part of EKIK, which is closely connected in its name and purpose to the increasingly popular and widespread international Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC) system.
EKIK's research centers have special laboratories and a high-value and cutting edge equipment, highlights include the robot park at BARK: the da Vinci surgical robot system, humanoid robots, and state-of-the-art industrial robotic arms. EKIK has modern community student spaces for research and teaching.
A real research center has been established at the University of Óbuda, where prominent research in the fields of health informatics, sensing, data analysis, modeling and regulation, biotechnology is carried out. Our center participates in the European Union's ERC program and cooperates with leading companies in the Hungarian medical electronics industry. We maintain an intensive and wide-ranging relationship with the IEEE engineering organization, its organization in Hungary, the IEEE Hungary Section.
